A man was arrested after he raped his stepdaughter while his wife cheated on him.
The mother left her two daughters, ages 8 and 11, and her 5-year-old son, with their stepfather while she travelled to Ekurhuleni, to meet another man.
While caring for the children, the husband sexually assaulted the eight-year-old girl.
The girl managed to escape and went to a neighbor’s house and told them about the sexual abuse.
The girl said that it was not the first she had been raped and the man had raped her over a period of time.
"I was shocked and I alerted the community, the neighbor said.
The victim girl said that when she told her mother about the rape, her mother did not believe her, and she threatened to beat her over her lies.
The man was arrested. When he appeared at the Protea Magistrate's Court, many residents came out to protest.
The girl's mother was in court with a friend in support of her husband.
