9 Simple ways to reduce stress

Share

  • Avoid Stressed People

You may not realize it, but your physiology is programmed to mirror the physiology of the people around you. In other words, you can "catch" stress from other people.

  • Have some sex

If you're using stress as an excuse to abstain from sex, think again. Having sex is actually a great way to ease stress because it lowers blood pressure, boosts self-esteem as well as increases feelings of intimacy with your partner. It also helps you sleep better.

  • Slow down and enjoy your meals

Try not to skip or gobble down meals. This can not only lead to a serious case of indigestion, it also slows down the digestion process which can lead to other unpleasant conditions such as constipation.

  • Enjoy the outdoors

Make the effort to go outside and fill your lungs with fresh air. Take a nice walk and enjoy the scenery and sounds of the outside world.

  • Take breaks

Everyone needs breaks. Don’t skip them to get a head start on other work. Take this time to relax and do something you enjoy.

  • Wear comfortable clothing

Whenever you can, wear clothing that is loose fitting and soft. Wear comfortable shoes that allow your feet to move and breathe.

  • Make time for the activities you enjoy

Do you have a hobby you really enjoy (IE. reading, knitting, dancing, swimming, sports, etc.)? When you engage in activities you like, you are comfortable and happy.

  • Sing out loud

When was the last time you sang loudly to your heart's content? Turn up the radio and start singing. No matter how bad you think you are, studies show that singing can actually make you feel happier and feel less stressed.

  • Go for a walk

Exercising in warm weather can boost your mood while a daily brisk walk of about 30 minutes can greatly reduce stress levels.
